Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts (Art History) and a Master of Cultural Materials Conservation from the University of Melbourne.

Whilst studying she worked as Archive Intern at the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) Library and Archive. Working in the Paper Laboratory at the Australian War Memorial Emma undertook a range of tasks including surface cleaning, tear repairs, stabilisation and flattening of maps and plans. This included the papers of Vivian Bulwinkle, a collection of photographs, news cuttings, letters and ephemera. Emma further developed her conservation skills and knowledge working at the State Library of Queensland and presented at the 2023 Asia Pacific Orchestra Librarians' Summit (APOLS) on 'Caring for your sheet music collection'.

Emma has most recently worked at the University of Nottingham Manuscripts and Special Collections where she assisted with the exhibition 'Country lives: Exploring the English countryside from 1800'. Emma has a particular interest in artworks on paper and has experience researching and treating easel paintings, contemporary sculpture and built heritage.
