Maïté Le Mens was born and educated in France, where she completed a Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art, specialising in painting, at the École de Condé in Paris. Her training encompassed paper conservation, frame repair, gilding, preventive conservation and a broad range of related disciplines.

During her studies, Maïté undertook an internship at the Musée du Louvre and gained further experience in private studios in Lyon, Paris, Florence and Syria. She also participated in a conservation program working alongside Syrian conservators and instructors from the Belgian school La Cambre, focusing on the preservation of 11th–12th century frescoes and 19th century icons.

Maïté relocated to Australia in September 2011, where her conservation expertise was quickly sought after in the aftermath of the Brisbane floods. She became a dual French–Australian citizen in 2019.

After eight years working as a private conservator, Maïté joined the ICS team, bringing with her a wealth of international experience.
