We’re seeking a highly organised Conservation Technician to provide hands-on skills, conservation assistance and admin support. Based at our labs in Osborne Park, Perth, this role is suitable for someone with a passion for heritage or the arts, who has both practical and administration skills.
THE ROLE
The Conservation Technician provides technical assistance and problem-solving, lab maintenance, and basic administrative support for conservation projects at ICS labs and on-site. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys combining practical hand skills with project admin, and who thrives in managing a busy schedule of jobs.
This is a challenging role that requires excellent time management, and great admin and communication skills.
Day to day activities include:
- Lab maintenance and safety
- Handling and movement of art, objects and materials
- Lab admin
- Conservation treatment support, eg. photo-documentation, object preparation, packing and transport, preparing treatment workspaces and site equipment, routine preparation of consumable materials, basic research and records maintenance
- Coordination of building, equipment and vehicle maintenance
WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Excellent eye for detail, steady hands, and confidence using hand tools, basic workshop equipment and lifting aids safely and accurately.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A level-headed approach, helpful attitude and great work ethic
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit: you enjoy learning from others, sharing insights and helping to achieve excellent outcomes.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise and thrive in a dynamic team environment.

- Australian citizenship or residency
