QV Mag Furniture

ICS was engaged by Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QV Mag) after their furniture collection was damaged by flood. Conservators individually assessed and photographed each damaged piece of the collection. The collection is very diverse, with each piece featuring unique concerns that required individual treatment and transportation plans.

Glebe War Memorial Restoration

The Glebe War Memorial was built in 1921 in honour of 174 local residents who served in the First World War.

Winged Victory

Gilbert Doble’s (1880-1945) Winged Victory is a sculpture of Nike, the goddess of victory. It was created for the top of the Marrickville Soldiers’ Memorial in 1919 in honour of local soldiers.

After relocating the Australia Council for the Arts’ art collection to a new premises in Pyrmont, Sydney, ICS designed and installed hanging display systems within the offices.

Digitisation of National Herbarium of NSW

ICS provided staff for the National Herbarium of NSWs’ project to digitise its collection of 1.4 million preserved plant specimens. Some dating back to Captain Cook’s landings in Australia in 1770.

In early 2014 a rare poster directing the way to an air raid shelter was discovered by workers carrying out refurbishment works at Town Hall Station.

Rouse Hill Estate Side Chair

This high Victorian style upholstered dining chair is from the collection of the Rouse Hill Estate. The NSW homestead, in the Australian Georgian style, was developed between 1813 and 1819 with further developments in c. 1863.

On Remembrance Day in 1926 this unique Honour Roll was first unveiled in the Rocky Hill War Memorial tower at Goulburn.

Birdwood Flag

The restored Birdwood Flag served as the Australian ensign and the first recorded Australian flag in the field of war from WW1. The flag had been hanging proudly in a Newcastle cathedral since 1924.

State Theatre Conservation of Butterfly Room

The Butterfly Room is one of the highly decorated rooms at the State theatre. ICS was engaged to uncover the original Butterfly Room decorations and return the whole room to its original intended appearance.
